It’s me Buddy…finding the shade.

It's time to change the walk when Buddy seeks the shade.

We’ve been fortunate that it has been cool in the mornings for our walks.  If we walk a little later and it’s starts to get warm, I know that Buddy is to hot because he seeks out the shade.  To get him to walk home we have to find the shady streets and even then he walks slowly in the shade and speeds up in the sun to get to the next shady spot.  Lately, even on the cooler days, he won’t willing go up into the foothill paths because the sun warms up the open spaces quicker.  He now prefers sidewalk walking with as much shade as possible.   Poor Buddy! We’ll have to start walking in the evening.

All that glossy black hair, Buddy! Poor you! Darby is a lot like you–although her hair is brindle so not quite so quick to absorb the sun. There have been times that her back felt uncomfortably warm to my hand! No wonder the two of you seek out the shade whenever you can! Maybe your human and I need to invent an umbrella that attaches to a harness….

    xoxoxo, Darby’s human
